I have had work done in my kitchen by a couple of workers doing different work. Each job required the movement of my under counter dishwasher. Now the dishwasher is positioned differently than it had been. I am trying to determine how the dishwasher should be positioned in reference to the surrounding cabinets. Should the tub be flush with the cabinets? or should the closed dishwasher door be flush with the cabinet frame? Comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

there's a little metal strap that stabilizes the D/w. it attaches to a screw at the very top of the D/W front, and is screwed into the underside of the counter top. That probably drives the set-back.
I believe with our's - the door is further out that the cabinets, but is flush, vertically, with the front edge of the counter top.
If you want to adjust the positioning - remember that little strap. open the door and look at the very front edge of the D/w and under counter area.

The flange of the tub should be flush with the face of the cabinets. The door will protrude slightly, but this will help when it goes into dry mode. It keeps the steam from going under your countertop and delaminating it. Be sure to use the tabs to stabilize it, and adjust the levelers to where it is at the proper height.

Chandler, thanks. That was exactly the information that I needed.
