Hey guys needed to know how much water is dumped when the unit cycles mine seems like its wasting a lot of water I shut it off for aobut 3 months and my water bill went down $45. Any insight about this would be great or even if someone feels like explaining how the whole process works would also be terrific.Unit is culligan and at 10lbs.

Technically it's not "wasting" any water. All that water is needed to regen the unit. How much is dumped in the process can be determined by pulling the drain plug in the various cycles and measuring it for a period of time. ie. let it drain into a bucket for 30 seconds. How much water is in the bucket? multiply that by the length of the cycle and you will know how much water is going down the drain. Do this for each cycle and add them all up. Or...you can find the owner's manual and it might be in there.
