I am getting 6 inch tiles from Lowes for bathroom wall.
Do I need a V notch trowel to use with the thinset?
Any specific type of tape for seams?

A V notch is for wall mastic, which you don't want to use where water will be. Use the square notch. Use the tape made for tile. The stuff for sheet rock looks the same, but isn't. I've heard big box sales folks tell people they're the same.

The instructions for your material will specify the type of trowel and notch size needed. This should be the place to find the answer to this question as it is not just about notch shape but also size.

A 1/4" notch trowel should be good. As Smokey said, the mesh tape looks the same as drywall tape but its not. The mesh tape you need to use is alkali resistant. Its made for this. You should find it at HD or Lowes in the same isle as the cement backer boards, or any tile store will have it.
