Hi,
I live in Mass and have high iron and manganese. House built in 1992 and had Milwaukee Whole House Filtration System from a company in Pennsylvania installed before I moved in.
I add 80 lbs every 2 or 3 weeks and IRON out. I have not any problems since 1992 until 6 days. I heard the filter go on last nite at 3:00 am but fell back to sleep and not sure if went thru the whole cycle. The water has a weird feel all the time. This feel of the water used to be only when the filter kicked and was gone after the first shower. From the backwash. all of my neighbors and myself have red iron discharge on the sides of our foundations.
I am going to call the company that installed it. My neighbor called them but it was 1500 for a new system.
I know they will say I need a new one. What other otions are there? Someone on the street has a system that does not use salt but cost 3000 a few years ago.
I know I can research this to death on the web. Any suggestions would be helpful as I am basically clueless as to this.
