Good day all. I am in the process of putting down laminate up and downstairs. I would still like to have carpet on my staircase. I found a tight Berber/loop carpet that I would like to install. A few questions. I would like to staple the carpet down instead of using tack strips. Should I use pad or no pad when installing? And, does my tool box have the right tools or do I need special tools? Thanks for any help. Mike

Check out this thread. The explanation of how to is concerning a runner instead of the whole step, but you can modify it to your situation. If you have additional questions after reading this, ask away.
