I recently moved into a house that has an EN1550 (Emergency Networks, Inc) alarm. It uses the standard PC1550 alarm board. I've downloaded all the manuals for the DSC PC1550, which as far as I'm aware is identical. Reset the hardware to factory, reprogrammed it all, new codes, defined the zones and all that jazz.

Anywho, everything works perfectly except for two things.

I can't enter the *8 programming section 34. I can enter all other sections from 01-33/35-36 and 90-91 with no problems, just not 34. I get the single long invalid entry beep with no change of status indicators which remain at waiting for me to enter a valid programming section. Any ideas why I can't access this one particular section? It's not that big of a deal, but I would have liked to set it up so the keypad gives a tone during the arming sequence too, instead of only alerting for disarming.

Also, I found that when setting the time options under section 17, that it only accepts 2 digits for each option, not 3 like the manual says. Not that it matters, but it threw me off for a few minutes trying to figure it out.

Are either of these maybe a difference between EN & DSC versions of the PC-1550, or just more errors in the DSC manual (that it appears to have a few of).

Anyways, the important thing is it all works, which I'm content with. But any advice on those two afore mentioned annoyances would be much appericated. Thanx in advance.

There is an older version of the PC1500/1550 that uses 2 digit time entrys and several of the programming locations listed in the later versions of the manual don't exist. The manual is correct, just not for that particular version of the program.

Ah, ok. That explains that. Thank you for the quick reply.

I guess my question now is: where can I find an older version of the installers manual? The oldest version I can find is for firmware version 4.0.

Also, how can I check what version of firmware I have. I've searched and everyone says it's printed on the chip, but like many others, not on mine. :/ Better yet, the firmware wouldn't be upgradeable by modem or something, would it. I doubt it, but figured I'd ask just in case.

Nope, there's no upgrade for these (you upgrade these systems with a screwdriver and a new system kit).

Really, other than the couple of things you have run into, the programming actually is pretty much identical. The only reason that I know the difference is because I'm a horrid pack rat and thus have a stash of old install manuals

Ok then, thanks again.

Oh, BTW, I ended up indrectly finding a older v3.0 version of the programming manual using the DLS2002 software. Anywho, yeah, just like you said...pretty much identical except for the couple of things I've ran into.

Oh well, it works well as is for what it's needed for, so I'm not going to sweat the odd details.

Thanks again for your assistance. :)
