We are planning a complete redo of a house we are purchasing. We want to change the existing radiant hotwater baseboard heat to forced air gas fired furnace. It is a raised ranch with only 2 levels, no basement. We will be removing existing ceilings in the lower level as well as some walls. We prefer forced air over radiant as the baseboards take up a lot of wall space in the small rooms. do you think this is practical?

Can it be done? Yes.
Is it a mistake to do it? I think so.

I agree with Furd. Taking out hot water heat can be a mistake..
Hot water heat provide much better comfort in your home. You can put furnture near the baseboard, keep it about 8" from it.

I also agree. Hot water baseboard is generally more comfortable than warm air.
Hot water can be zoned far easier than can warm air.
