Ok, I purchased a house without a shower in the master bath, so I purchsed a three piece surround that nails directly to the studs and during the removal of the tiles I was going to replace my father in law and wife broke to many that I now am having to look in another direction. I was going to drywall from the top of the surround to the ceiling. during the install I asked my "helper" to carefully remove a piece of drywall and he destroyed it. So now I am going to remove all the wallpaper and paint, but what can I do in the two foot section over the walls.
Install green board and paint it? what can I use? and this is where the shower head comes out as well.
I hope I made this clear, but my helper has me agitated and I spent the last few hours looking for the best place to ask for help.
Thanks

<indignant>Rarely can tiles be removed from a surface and reused. You guys are lucky to save any at all. Drywall is just about impossible to pull out intact for reuse. Professional bath remodelers don't waste the effort.</indignant>
Greenboard is basically a failed idea. It is no longer rated suitable for wet walls, so kinda useless. You can forsee the moisture conditions here better than others, though, so use your judgement.
Cement board and tile to ceiling not an option?

Lighten up on your "helper" or one day you might look for some help and it won't be there.
Trying to remove tiles and expecting to reuse them is risky. I'm not surprised that some were damaged. repairing damaged sheetrock is so routine for a DIYer that most of us consider it no big deal when it gets damaged. Usually during any kind of demo it's pretty much expected.
If the area above your shower surround will not be subjected to direct contact with water you can use regular sheetrock, greenboard or one of the fiberglass faced sheetrock products that are advertised as mold resistant.
