I'm looking at Home Depot and Lowes and they tend to have similar "house brand?" solid countertop surfaces for bathrooms. I'm going to get a 61" two-sink vanity top and the one I like is Pegasus, which is from Home Depot. But there's NO information on the web about this particular surface. It's basically a Corian lookalike, I think. Very hard stuff, and colored and patterned the same all the way through its thickness. I'm not talking about cultured marble.

Does anyone have an opinion on this stuff? Is there a *really* compelling reason to go out and buy Corian brand instead and pay significantly more? The warranty on these tops appears to be just 5 years, but they seem rock solid. Both Lowes and HD are pretty crummy about giving info about this stuff.

Are you sure its a corian knockoff. Heres a home depot link that says the that the pegasus 61" inch with two bowls is granite.

Corian is not granite. Its some kind of plastic. You can machine it with regular wood working tools.

Yeah, I'm sure. The website ONLY shows the granite versions (which are more expensive of course). The store itself gives the option of solid-surface or granite. I'm just trying to figure out if these HD and Lowe's "store brand" Corian-like surfaces are good.
