I would like to install beadboard around the bath tub/shower? If it is practical and if so what do I need to do to prep the area?

thanks

Welcome to the forums! Glad you got here when you did. Wood in a wet area is not very nice. It will wick water, and turn black in time. I like taking the sheetrock out below the 36" mark and replacing it with horizontal nailing framing and installing 1/2" tongue and groove, and installing a chair rail at the intersection. But not in the wet area. It is relegated to tile, marble, or waterproof panels.

I wanted to do the same thing, but worried about using wood as shower walls. Then, I found a product made by Swanstone (http://www.swanstone.com/products/wallPanels/decoWallKits.php). They make decorative shower walls in a number of colors and styles, including beadboard. I haven't ordered it, yet, but it's a thought.
