My church has a DSC 832 w/ a wireless expander in another part of the building. History- the 51??/433 wireless expander had an unidentified trouble 2 years ago that would not clear, I found out by shear luck that the chip in it was defective. In short if you go into the supply house and ask the right questions you get a new chip. At that point, I powered down everything replaced the chip, powered up, re entered ALL the ESN's again---ALL is good.
Two months ago our area lost power for 5 days, now part of the building with the wireless PIRs and Door contacts, has 5 or 6 troubles out of 12 zones, ranging from low battery to a tamper to ????. at that point every battery in every device was replaced. The Sec. system still has all the ESNs in memory, and the voltage at the stanby battery is 14 volts. What do we do next?

At this point your information is still rather vague. What are the specific troubles? I rather doubt that the defect issue 2 years past has any bearing on the current situation.

Sorry about the vague part I was trying to cover a lot of ground. The majority of the troubles are low battery on both PIRs and the door contacts. two of these we did the batteries again and double checked the polarity of each battery. One other is a tamper on a PIR, and I believe it said fault on a door contact. I will double check those tomorrow.
Thanks for catching this over the weekend.

Check the battery covers on the devices. If the covers aren't on well, you will get faults and tampers.

DSC wireless is also notoriously fussy about batteries. They tend to report low battery on batteries that are barely below a fairly high threshold (1.4 volts on a typical 1.5v battery, for example). If you bought batteries from a source that didn't rotate their stock fairly regularly, that could be the problem.

Thank you, I will investigate and test batteries. I will get an outcome in a day or two.

Sorry it took so long to get back. It would appear the info I had on ALL the batteries was not accurate. I remedied the battery problem, along with replacing one of the door contacts, and no more troubles.

Now I have a new question I am hoping you could help with. I was reading some of the paperwork on this system and I was not sure about something.

If you had several access numbers could you track which access number was used and when, or is this a function of the monitoring company. If this is possible how do we set it up.

By the way The Pastor thanks you for your help.

If you have the LCD alphanumeric keypad, you can easily go into the system log and view which code was used to arm and disarm. Without it, the only way to read the log is with downloader software.

You can also program the system to report arms and disarms (opens and closings), but most monitoring services charge a higher fee for this level of reporting.
