I have a Rheem heat pump and the outside unit is running but cold air is blowing. I have switched the emergency heat on but it is not coming on either. Do you think that a blown fuse or a tripped breaker would prevent the emergency heat from coming on? The history of this unit is that it is 11 years old and in the past when this occured, I had to press the reset on the outside unit. I feel like the compressor is bad or low on freon. But I can't determine why I don't have emergency heat. Any ideas...Thanks in Advance!!

Unless you have a additional circuit breaker on the unit for the electric heat, I would say since the fan is running, it's not the fuse/breaker.
You may have a bad relay/sequencer in the air handler that's failing to turn on the electric strip heat, a bad limit switch going to the heat coils, or bad heat coils themselves.
