I'm getting ready to install my kitchen cabinets next weekend. This weekend I install the wide plank floors. I'm planning to run floor about 6" under cabinet, which are flat fronts (no toe kick). The wall oven will be about 34 inched off the ground and the cooktop is installed into the countertop. The question is the dishwasher, which will be situated in a 60" island (18" cabinets on each side of the 24" dishwasher). Do I install the cabinets first, then the countertop, then the dishwasher ? or am i out of order here. Thanks

The dishwasher is designed so it can raise up after being slid into the opening, in other words, installed as retrofit. Better put it in last, as someday you may want it to come back out even for repair.
Nice to have the dishwasher on hand though, just to check your measurements.

There have been several posts here in the last 6 months where people were wondering how to get their dishwasher out from under the cabinets. In most cases the cabinets had been installed or changed around the dishwasher.
My suggestion is install the cabinets but make sure the opening will accomodate the DW. Pay particular attention to any added pieces spanning the opening that are intended to support the countertop. My granite installers wanted to put a piece across the DW opening for support. We had to rip 1/2" off so that the DW would fit.

Our flooring and possibly the floor joists were altered to fit a standard DW (maybe there wasn't one originally?). When ours was installed we had to have the counter shimmed up to fit the new one. Luckilly we fully intended to remodel the kitchen later. BE SURE that DW fits in the rough opening and don't install it till last lest you have to remove it for repair.
