Home Automation - Is it bad to have multiple wires on one stud?

I am redoing my family room and putting my new 50" HD plasma above my fireplace.

My question: Will I get any type of interference, if I run my electric wire(12/2), cable wire, and my Bose speaker wire up the same stud?

the answer is yes, you could have some interference.

you should keep at least 12" of seperation between the high voltage and speaker wire. more is better. if you can get them into seperate stud spaces it would be best.

if you put the high voltage on one stud and the speaker wire on the other in the same stud space you should be fine.

Also it is good to check the local codes, but just to save you the trip, yes you will get interference and by code you are not supposed to run electrical on the same studs as low voltage wiring. Hope that helps.

If you run your your low voltage control or data lines parallel to electrical, there will be interference. If you are running the lines perpendicularly to each other, you should be fine.
