Electric heat inside an AC unit, central air. AC works 100% no problems. Unit is about 2 yrs old, but i have never used the heater on it. When the thermostat is switched to Heat it makes a loud clicking sound from the unit (not the thermostat)

assumed it was just b/c i had never been turned on, but turned it back off after 30sec fearing further damage

I take it that this is not a heat pump. Just has electric elements in it. You would have to go into it. Can be the blower relay , a sequencer, blower on a different speed. Will it do it now, tstat on blower on????

yeah, electric heat element

blower is 1 speed. blower works on AC and by itself when blower switched to "on" instead of Auto
i will try again switching blower to "on" then switch to heat. I think that us what you were asking
