I have recently switched monitoring companies due to my local security company going out of business. Rather than pay the hefty fee to secure another local company, I opted to go with NextAlarm which required me to establish my own connections. Everything has been successful up to the point of connecting my 7845CV2 cellular backup to AlarmNet via a 7720P programming tool. Next Alarm has provided me the required 7720P data to program the correct monitoring company however the first question that comes up on the 7720P tool is, "enter PIN". Does anyone know what the PIN is. Is this a AlarmNet PIN number (Honeywell referred me to their local dealer list) as did NextAlarm or was this established by the last installer? The PIN is 4 characters and I've tried the Installation and Master codes as well my cellular account and the central station ID (each 4 characters), all failed. I can't believe the industry makes it so difficult to prevent home owners from managing their own security systems. Any help or direction would be appreciated.

That PIN number must be obtained from AlarmNet tech support, and they only supply it to one of their listed dealers.

The alarm industry has always been extremely (excessively) competetive, and many of their anti-competive practices date to the era when alarm equipment was generally leased, and not owned by the end-user.

If NextAlarm is not an AlarmNet dealer, then you will not be able to use this piece of hardware with their monitoring. If they are, then they should be able to obtain the PIN for you.

Bummer :-( Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it. I'll try NextAlarm [again] as they are the ones who set me up an account on AlarmNet for me so I have to believe they must be considered an authorized dealer. If that fails, I'll see if the actual monitoring company will help me. NextAlarm uses a NJ based company called AMCEST. Again, thank you for your help :-)

PS - any chance that if I pull the line from the 7845CV2 to the alarm panel (Ademco -20P) as well as disconnect the battery, that the 7845CV2 will reset itself dropping the "PIN" question? The reason I ask is because NextAlarm originally stated they could set up the unit if it were new but I'd have to set it up using a 7720P if it had already been programmed.

For all intents and purposes, the 7845 is a small scale alarm panel on it's own. The data is in an eeprom, so power down will not erase it.
