I live in a third floor unit in a condo building. The plywood subfloor is covered with a leveling/sound restricting cement layer - apparently somewhat common, and good for the neighbors below.
Do I need a moisture barrier in this type of situation? Yes, the laminate floor will be over cement, technically. But it's not a slab - it's a 1 inch layer. And the unit is well above grade.
Also, on this type of subfloor, do you think I will notice a difference between cheaper underlayments and more expensive, and thicker cork layers? If I went with cork, would there be any advantage to going thicker (say 6mm) over thinner (say 3mm? Or would it all feel the same once the floor is down over the cement?
I don't see a lot of information our there for this somewhat unique situation.
Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate it.

Yes, you need the moisture barrier anytime you go over cement, concrete, lightweight concrete and gypcrete.
