I am trying to use an Ademco 4204 to activate an external chime upon Entry/Exit at Zone 2. The problem is when using *80 and tying the Output Relay to a Zone Number, the Output Actions are:

1. Off
2. Close for 2 Seconds
3. Close and Stay Closed
4. Continuous Pulse On & Off
5. Change Device State
6. Duration 1
7. Duration 2

I want the chime to only operate while the door is open (the magnetic contacts on the door are open), then reset when the door closes (the chime should stop). Using option 2 works ok, but 2 seconds is too short. Options 3 and 5 appear to be the same function, the relay closes but never resets even when the door is closed. Option 6, the shortest duration is 15 seconds, which is too long to continue ringing after the door closes.

Do you have any options or suggestions on how to accomplish this? Thank you for your replies.

You need to program 2 different events. One to trigger your chime when the zone is faulted, the second to turn the relay off when the zone is restored.
