I have roughly 5 polo shirts that have stains on the front from eating at restaurants. I think it is a butter/grease/oil type of situation.
I have tried all the usual things like soaking the spots in liquid tide, cheer, oxi clean. Hover nothing seems to remove the stains.
These are $25 to 35.00 shirts. I really would like to save them if I can.

Besides using a "bib" from now on what is a man to do? $20.00 or more for diner and $25.00 for a ruined shirt is an expensive dinner.

If the shirts have been dried the spots have been set. if fresh pretreating with a small amount of a quality dish soap may help...then launder as usuall. If the spots dont come out, do not dry them yet.

Pretreat grease stains with solvent (rubbing alcohol, denatured alcohol, dry cleaning fluid, or other). Then, pretreat with Dawn or other dish liquid containing degreaser or heavy duty liquid laundry detergent and let set to emulsify. Then, pre-soak in enzyme detergent like Wisk or Biz and water. Then, complete wash cycle.

"Besides using a "bib" from now on what is a man to do?" Sit up straight at the dining table and lean forward over plate for each bite. The purpose of the plate is not only to serve the food but to catch any spills or drips. Making this procedure a habit will save shirts and ties from stains.
