I'm in a house with a DSC 1550 that is about 11 years. The power went out twice with in 1 minute and when it came back on the second time the bell started going off and nothing on the keypad would respond. I disconnected the bell, and then tried a series of things and removing and replacing the jumper wire for zone 6 finally put things back to normal. Now I have a trouble light on and *2 displays light 2 - loss of AC power. I downloaded a user manual, but do not know what to do to clear this trouble light. I reset the system time using *[6] mastercode [1] just to make sure this wasn't causing a problem.

It is likely that in your attempts to silence the system, you either blew one of the fuses at the top edge of the PC board, or shorted the ac power wires long enough to kill the power transformer. The initial voltage transient could have easily destroyed the transformer. There should be 16.5 VAC coming in at the power terminals. If not, you probably need a new "wall wart".
