I have a solid maple kitchen table, and the varnish on top has bubbled and is now coming off. I am assuming this is a result of heat coming into contact with the table. Is there any way to repair this without stripping the table and putting a new finish on it?
Thanks!

If it is that susceptable to heat(depending on how much heat), it should probably be stripped anyhow. The end results will be much better, and there are some fairly good low VOC strippers available.
