I am finishing my basement and have left a 30' x 11' unfinished area which contains my gas furnace and hot water tank. I have two 48" door openings to get into this area (on either end of the 30' wall) and plan on installing 2 sets of 24" bi-fold doors.

My question is whether I need to install bi-folds with louvers to allow for adaquate ventilation into the area or is it large enough that I can install solid bi-folds. There is also a window in the space that can be opened.

...or (in my county, anyway) two vents measuring 12"X12", one high and one low between the finished and unfinished space.

Or if it is like a closed room then you need 1 sq " for every 1K btu in the room. So if the furnac eis say 100kbtu the water heater id 30K. Then you need a gril with 130sq " to let air into the roome .
