Hello-
I'm new here, I hope I'm not asking a questions that has been coverred to death.

My water softener is spitting resin out the drain tube. What's wrong, is it repairable or is the system toast?

Thanks

Joe

Could you gives ,ore details on your water equipment and conditions. It sould like there is something wrong with the valve or water pressure control.

The brand is Master Plumber, a True Value Hardware brand. I know the softener is at least 8 years old. I assume there is some type of filter that keeps the resin in place and that it has cracked or disintegrated in some fashion.

Sorry, I have never heard of that model or make. I suppose it is a generic make of valve and True Value puts their sticker on it.

A couple of things can cause resin to blow out the drain tube: A screening device has been damaged or missing, too much pressure, or the resins have been ground to fragments and are passing through the screen.

I am guessing the last to be most likely. It may be time for a replacement of the whole unit with a quality unit.

If not, then you will need to service the softener and replace the resin.

Hope this helped,
Andy
