I have a dsc pc5508 keypad. I cannot set the time and date. when I press *2 I get trouble code 8, to reset time.

This information is from the DSC 5010 panel. I don't know what panel you have. The kepad number does not help much when determining the main panel model. This same keypad could be used on several different panels.
If you have an owners manual check this befor starting.
To set the system time, enter [6] followed by the Master Code. Press [1]. The keypad will now
accept 10 consecutive digits:
• Enter the Time in Hours and Minutes using the 24 Hour format (00:00 to 23:59).
• Enter the Date in Months, Days and Years (MM DD YY).
If you have an owners manual check this befor starting.
