Some of my AC ducts on the second floor of my house are sweating and dripping water down on the floor. This usually happens when it is very cold outside. When I look up inside of the vent, I can see condensation on the vent, as well as on the duct itself. Does anyone know how I can stop this from happening? I am afraid that mold will grow in the ducts and the air will end up smelling stale when I go to turn the AC on in the summer.
Some addition info.: My return vent is sealed off for the winter with plastic. The ducts in the attic are insulated and I have very good air circulation in the attic, via the soffit vents and the ridge vents. Last year, my return started sweating and dripping water and when I went to open up the return and pull down the filter, I found a small chunk of ice inside the return duct. The condensation actually made a small puddle in the duct and ending up freezing.
I was told by a few people that my ducts sweat because my attic has very good ventilation, maybe to much. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Most of the dampers in the ceiling there cant are dont close all the way. SOOOOOOO take the register down . Take a trash bag and fill it with paper or some fiberglass and push it up in the oulet then put the register back on . This will stop all your mess.

Bu**-- Its the warm air from the home going up into the pipe that cools off and the water out of it is what comes back out of the pipes ;)
