How much clear space do you need in front of your return air duct? We have a bookcase that used to be against the wall where the return air vent was placed for our newly installed heat pump. If we put this bookcase back in front of the return air vent, how far from the wall should it go?

If you could give it 2 inches, you would be OK. You may get by with less but not much less. Hope this helps you.
