Hi,

I have the GE Concord system (ADT monitoring) and the touchpad intermittantly indicates an open window even though the window is closed and locked. The GE tech told me that the sensitivity on the sensor may be too high and the window is rattling. Can anyone tell me how to lower the sensitivity on the dip switches inside the sensor?

Thanks for your help.

More than likely, the installer did a poor job of mounting the sensor and/or magnet. There are no "sensitivity" adjustments to be made on the inside of the sensor. Check to make sure that the magnet is lined up with the sensor. My guess is that you have the micro window sensor (a little bigger than a quarter) and the magnet has become mis-aligned.

The magnet is about an inch long and about 1/4 wide. We are new owners of this house - an inherited system - and it seems that the magnet was attached really tight. It worked fine up until now (weather has just gotten very cold)...how do I tell where the magnet should be in relation to the sensor? There are no arrows or indications on either one. The sensor is about 4 inches long and 1.5 inches wide and has a little green light bulb inside that keeps going on and off as well as these little dip switches.

Hmmmm.....

If you look inside the sensor there should be a small glass tube along one side.
In your case, since it has been working, it should be near where the magnet is located.

this glass tube (it is small) has the reed switch that opens and closes when the magnet gets near it or is moved.

This area of the sensor should be no farther than 1/4" from the magnet. A "little" closer is betterj

Other than this you could have a sensor that is going bad.

Good luck!
