Hi!
I have a 90 hp mercury outboard 4 stroke that has water collecting in the oil.
When I pull the drain plug there is a few ounces of clear water in the oil. The engine has 500 hrs on it since new. The warranty has expired as it is a 2001. I have changed the plug and gasket, and the local dealer can't seem to come up with any reason there should be water in the oil. I am a good tractor mechanic but I do not understand this problem very well.
Anyone have any suggestion???
Thanks!
Charlie

As you probably know only 3 reasons, Cracked head/case or head gasket. Does water run in intake manifold, if so could be cracked manifold or leaking gasket. See if you could get a hold of a tech at mercury. http://northamerica.mercurymarine.com/utility/contact/
