I bought a 51" HD ready Progressive Scan (51mp392h/17) TV about 2 years ago from Circuit City. Just today, the blue is about 2" off causing blue shadows on the screen. If I go to the convergence menu, I can move the blue left & right, but not up & down. The red convergence works correctly. Is this something I can troubleshoot and fix myself?
Any help/guidance/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Probably not something you want to do yourself. It is definetly a convergence problem. Usually the IC's (amps) go out and you will get the problem you are having. These IC's are soldered onto the board, which will be located usually at the bottom right of the device (looking from the back). It is best to leave this to a qualified repair technician. It will probably cost you $300-400.
You should have gotten the Extended Service Plan. I used to work at Circuit City and would HIGHLY suggest spending the extra doe for the warranty. One typical repair will pay for itself.

Thanks for the post and the pointers. I've been poking around more on the web and am going to try to do this myself. Can't justify $300-$400 on fixing when I can replace for $800. And yes, I should have purchased the extended service plan. Been reading that it also might be the Convergence Module. Is there a "convergence module" (board) for each gun? Is that replaceable? Is there a service manual that is accessable on-line. I'm an old EE now into computers/IT so I'm not adverse to soldering & replacing if I have to.

Yes, there is a convergence board, BUT, the IC's are usually first to go out. A board is much more expensive.
Try to get a electrical diagram from the manufacturer or repair facility. Take particular note on the Safety warnings and procedures to make sure there is no residual charge within the unit.
Most likely the IC (amps) that are in there now are rated for 110v, when they really need to be the new 120volt IC's. This is what happened with mine.
Mine were two little black IC's, about 1 1/2" x 3" in size. They will have multiple solder legs on them where they are connected to the board.
