I am in the process of changing over to recessed lighting. I would like to install a ceiling fan/fixture over my entrance. Would like to have fan on different switch, but only available service is from exsisting wires going to recessed lighting. Is there a way to splice my hot wire from exsisting wires and add fan and switch? If so can someone give me the correct combo. If need be I can just add to exsisting but would like to have seperate.
Thanks Mike

If the original installer ran a three conductor cable plus ground from the switch to the ceiling you can do this. I doubt it, but it is possible.
If not, you would need to run new wires from the switch to the ceiling to do what you want.
