I am planning to redecorate my living room, I want to retain the following: light yellow wall, ivory carpet, Rich dark brown leather sofa, fireplace is white but the tiles on it is like pink turning into old rose. I want to redecorate my living room into a clean classic contemporary style room.
I am wondering what color should I have on the curtains, rug, coffee table, lamp that would go well with what I want to retain in the room and what accent piece can I place on top of the coffee table and around the room to make it look very classic and contemporary.
Any ideas will be appreaciated. Thank you.

Decorating is so much easier when you start out with your rug.
The following link has a picture of a beautiful classic contemporary rug:

I hope you can see the colors. All would go well with what you have so far. The burgundyish color would complement the fireplace. In classic contemporary a geometric design is usually what is the ultimate touch.

This may not be the rug for you, but you can readily see that with a rug you have a palette of colors from which to choose for accessories and accents. Window treatments can be an off white or cream or a soft yellow like the walls. Long flowing panels are always classic and look good in contemporary decor, too. Keep window treatments to clean, straight lines, whether going with panels or blinds. Roman shades are currently very popular, too, and are often seen in classic contemporary. A solid color is usually best.

Punching up the room with color will have to be in pictures that reinforce your colors and theme and your other accessories and accents or upholstery fabrics on other pieces of furniture. Lamps can be a mix of contemporary and classic. The trend today is to get away from the matchy-matchy, so having the same lamp on each end table is now considered boring by many.

Keep all your lines in furniture and furnishings straight. Mix in some metal in lamps, sculpture, tables, or other. Avoid clutter. Keep everything simple and clean and crispy looking--almost a minimalist look. Remember less is more in classic contemporary.

Coffee table decor can be as simple as a single bowl of fruit as seen in the link below. It can be three different metal candlesticks with clean straight lines. Vary the heights.
