Air Conditioning - Air condenser fan kicks off???

A little off the beaten path for me on this one. My A/C comes on, blows cold air okay...but the condensers fan kicks off while the compressor still runs after about 2 minutes consistently.

I replaced the relay on the circuit board and the issue has not resolved.
Any ideas? I am assuming it is a signal or sensor within the condenser unit since the compressor stays on. The unit is about 13 years old and has been serviced every other year or so by a professional, and cleaned and otherwise maintained by myself.

If not a heat pump . Have you checked the fan motor. might also check the capacitor for it????

Isn't the cap just a start up cap...the fan starts consistently (so does the compressor), it just shuts off after 2 minutes (but not the compressor).

The fan feels fluid and moves free, so I am sure the bearings are good. If hte motor was shotty, it would have start up issues...right?

I don't know, may have to bight the bullet on this one.

Id say amp the motor out. Most of the time if they start ok the cap is good. lot of motors have a cut out in them. This can go out and turn the motor off in a short time
