have replaced my trane weathertron t-stat with a rth7400. I followed the wiring correctly. Everything works good except, my unit will not go into defrost mode. em heat works, aux heat works when temp is set 2 degrees above room temp, a/c works. unit will defrost if I turn the a/c on, but I dont like turning the a/c on when it is 30 degrees out. I understand the t wire on the weathertron is what put it into defrost mode. What puts it into defrost mode now? The unit will keep the temp at what i set it to, but may run all day. Need a freon charge for that maybe?

My papers say that the T terminal from the old stat not used -tape off

The defrost board outside should do the defrost for you
