I have a old exterior(more than 10 years, under the roof so it is not expose to rain or snow) light that works sometimes but most of time it does not work. I check the eletrical supply and it is fine. There is some green stuff inside the lightbulb socket metal contact, I think it might causing bad eletrical contact. I want to know what that green stuff is and how to clean it. thanks

The green stuff is cupric oxide, caused by the exposure of copper parts to the air, whether it is moist or not. You will probably be better off either replacing the entire fixture or at least the socket. If you want to clean it, you can use a paste of baking soda and water to scrub the contact, which will neutralize the acidic properties.
