We recently suffered numerous momentary power interruptions while the TV was on. The substation circuit breaker operated numerous times before someone was able to turn off an unplug the TV. Now the picture is blank, but sound is fine. I have checked the circuit boards and found no blown fuses. No burn marks, etc. I am looking for some suggestions short of hauling this beheamouth up the stairs to a nonexistent repair shop in order to repair it for what would surely be over $300. With the price and quality of flat panels, I'm not sure it is worth it. However, since this TV was working so well for so long, and has PIP, I am still looking for someone that may have run into the same problem and knows of a fix (a component I could replace), or can provide an opinion about whether the solution is not worth the trouble.

I have let it sit for several days and tried it again, but no luck. I also tried moving the power supply board as it may have a crack or loose connection, but no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks

jack

I bought a Toshiba 42" plasma in 2006. This tv cost me over 2K at the time which I saved so my husband could watch his sports games in style. This tv is not even 3 yrs old and when I went to the store where I purchased it, they told me...if a dvd is hooked up to the tv, try playing a dvd....if you can see the movie....it is the dvd player and remove it. However, they said if there is no dvd player, which is the case with me, I'm looking at purchasing a new one. I almost blew a gasket. My grandmother has the same refrigerator since she got married and it still works. From my guess, it is simply the light source such as a light bulb but they said plasma tvs don't have bulbs. Well something must be lighting up the screen.
There last suggestion is to contact the manufacturer being Toshiba and they will look at it and determine the problem and what the repair will cost. However, shipping a tv this size, this expensive, to gosh knows where...will cost me a fortune, probably get damaged, stolen, etc. If it does make it....and the repair fee is not affordable...which I am sure this will be the case....then I will have another shipment for its return with the same problem.
I am certain there has got to be some tv/computer guru on this board that can fix this problem in a matter of minutes. Please....Help my very expensive tv come to life again.
