Wood or fiberglass?
For fiberglass, here is a helpful link: http://powerboat.about.com/od/fiberglass/a/Faded_fiberglas.htm
For overall cleaning:

Please.. let us know how it turns out... I'm very interested. I've a 20 yr old fiberglass boat... and, nothing - short of buying the orbital buffer and getting after it ... has given me a truly clean/bright new boat finish. I'm about to the point of having it painted... unless the suggestion of compound with the orbital unit works....
