Hi all: I have just installed a new ceiling fan with a wall mounted remote. I can't get it to work!

I have installed the receiver twice (even got a replacement) and I'm not getting any juice at all to it. I removed the wall switch to make room for the wall mounted remote and turned the power back on but nothing. I just capped off the wires in the box when I removed the switch. I'm obviously doing something wrong but I don't know enough about electricity to know.

I'm pretty sure the receiver is wired correctly and I do have the switches on the receiver and the remote matching.

BTW, the fan worked fine when the light switch was still attached.

Thanks to anyone who can give me some insight -

Remote chance that the power comes into the switch box, and then out to the fan? How many wires are in the switch box? What do you mean - capped them off? Black to black / white to white?

Hi - Thanks for the reply. I simply removed the light switch (in order to put the wall mounted remote there) and twisted a cap on each one of the wires (one black; one white) and pushed them back into the box. They're not connected to anything now -

You need to twist the two wires from the switch together under one nut. You have the fan connected with switch off.

Hi Joe: THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'll try that when I get home. I KNEW it had to be something stupid like that. So I twist the black and white wires together in the box with one cap?

Thanks again -
