Lighting, Light Fixtures, Ceiling and Exhaust Fans - Single Wire

I am having difficulty installing a new light fixture. I removed an old flouresant fixture and the electrical lines that remain are two sets of black, white and nuetral wires. The light fixture that I purchased has only a single dual wire coming from it. I tried attaching to a single black, single white and then tried to wire it to both black and then to both white. How do I wire this?

How were the wires connected to the old fixture?

I don't remember exactly. But I think that the white wires were to the fixture and the black and nuetrals were together separately. I pulled it down a few weeks ago and now I am getting back to it.

Tell us what wires you have in the switch box and how they are connected.
I hope you mean in your original post that you have black,white, and ground wires.

Yes I have black white and nuetral two sets of each.

There is a black white and Nuetral at the switch box.
The nuetral wires are bare

The bare wires are ground not neutral. The white is a neutral except at the switch box in this case. The white is going to be a hot wire. You have a switch loop.
Do you have anything this to test which cable is the hot at the light?
At the light
You need to connect the hot black to the white wire to the switch.
Connect the black from the switch to the black from the new fixture.
Connect the white from the power cable to the white from the fixture.
Connect all the bare wires and green wires to each other and to the box if it is metal.

At the switch connect the black and white to the switch and the bare to the green screw and the box if it is metal.
