So they NEVER replace this piece whole? seems ridiculous to throw out a compressor, and possibly justify replacing the whole system if the leaks are ONLY in the outside coil!! Kinda like "planned obsolescence"??
I'll give you the fact that it's not a new system, etc, but this seems wasteful and unneeded to me. "doubt we could find the exact replacement for the coil" he said.

The coils of copper are locked into the fins by a high psi of air. So if it starts to leak at one fin now . You can bet that it will start to leak at more fins later on. So if its the coil now . Go for a new unit outside. We do have new coils for the inside units. Your best bet down there is go for a SEER of 15 or better inside and out. It will pay you back ;)
