Greetings all - fist post here and I hope to be able to contribute as well in the future.
I have a question that needs some insight - I am trying to find out how one can actually run speaker or A/V wires in your standard house wall - but how does one do this horizontally? I mean, I can see how it is done say if you need to run wires directly straight up through a wall with no horizontal direction...but lets say I need to run wires up about 5' then a 90 degree turn and another 3' over a fireplace.
How does one now get though a stud horrizontally? I can only imagine that yu have to drill through the 2x4's and I am not even sure how you work a drill into a small opening to do this.
I basically have fireplace that I need to run wires up the side - then over the top. I do have access under the fire place with a drive under garage - but the actual fireplace goes into the wall about 3' in - so I have no way (or wanting to do this mind you) to run wires up through fireplace side.
Maybe the bigger question here is how does one drill wire holes into horizontal and verticle studs in a wall?
You can kind of see here what I am trying to deal with:

Thanks for the help.

if you check your local Home Depot or Lowes (or other larger home improvement stores.) You can find long "flex" drill bits. These come in lenghts up to 72".
Using these sometimes still require cutting some holes in the sheetrock depending on how far you want to go horizontally.
there are some websites that will show how to use these bits. Try to Google
the phrase "wire fishing"
