The past few times I have used my electric clothes dryer, when I go to empty the lint trap (which I do every time), it is damp. It has actually been wet twice. Also, the bulge (for lack of a better word) on the inside of the dryer door has some beads of moisture on it, as does the lower part of the gasket surrounding this 'bulge'. I wipe everything off, and for the next few loads of clothes I dry, no moisture gathers. Then if I don't use the dryer for a few days, the wetness accumulates in the filter again, and around the gasket on the inside of the door. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like your dryer isn't exhausting the hot moist air. Check your vent outside, you should be getting a pretty strong flow of air. If not, look for a buildup of lint either in the ducting in the house or it could be built up in the dryer itself. I have noticed some dryers, particularly Maytag that build up lint inside the machine. You can take the hose off the back of the dryer and turn it on. If you get a strong flow of air out the back of the dryer than it is ok. Also make sure the hose at the back of the dryer isn't kinked and blocking the flow of air out of the dryer.

Thanks for the reply. When I run a load of clothes in the dryer, I can see huge volumes of what appears to be steam coming out of the outside vent. However, something you said made me think. About a month ago, my son-in-law did his best to clean out the dryer duct and vent, just because he hadn't done it for awhile. I wonder if somehow he didn't get the hose in the back of the dryer positioned right. Think that's a possibility? He lives out of town and I don't want him to travel here if it's not necessary. I think I can pull the dryer out by myself to check though....hopefully. And by the way, my dryer IS a Maytag.
