I currently own a ranch house with a unfinished breezeway (10'x24') separating the house from the garage. The Garage and breezeway were built after the house, and the breezeway construction is a concrete slab.
The Breezeway has four doors, 1 that leads to the house, (into the kitchen), 1 into the garage and 2 more that lead to the front and back of the house onto pressure treated decks.
I would like to expand the kitchen out onto the breezeway. There is a step between the breezeway and the entrance into the house, but i can live with that. Due to headroom constraints in the breezeway,i can't afford to build up the breezway's floor to meet the houses floor height.
My question is concerning the degree of cold one could expect of this breezeway. (For heat i was planning on installing a gas fired stove). I live in Rochester, NY so winters are quite cold. Anythoughts on how cold it would be on this floor (I was thinking of a tile floor). I don't know what i could do to insulate this area. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
