I have a Kenmore washer, Model #110, approx 10 - 11 yrs old which is leaking yellow fluid (I believe oil) around the bottom of the washer. Is this something which can be repaired? I really don't want to buy a new one since so many of the new washers are cheaply made.
I would definitely appreciate anyone's thoughts/advice.
Thanks for your time.

Sounds to me like a seal is leaking on the transmission. Transmissions are generally not repaired by a service tech, it is replaced. With your machine being 10-11 years old, it is questionable as to if it is worth replacing. A new transmission costs around $150 price range. Also it is good to replace the clutch while you are in there. It runs about $35. It could run pretty close to what a new washer costs to have a service tech do the work for you. You can tip the machine up and look underneath it to trace where the fluid is coming from. If the tranny is really wet with oil than your leak is probably there. I don't know of anything else that would cause an oil like substance to appear underneath the unit.
The new top-loading Whirlpool and Kenmore washers are still using the same design. Yes, they are putting cheaper made parts and tend to not last as long as a machine made back then, but the Whilrpool driect drive desin is tried and true. Whirlpool builds most of the Kenmore laundry products.
