With the window closed, examine the left and right sides of the track that the front sash slides in. About 3" above the top of the sash, is there a small rectangular clip, about 1" long and 1/4" wide? If so, the bottom edge of that clip can be pulled out with a fingernail (it kind of hinges along the top) and the bottom pulls out about 1/4".
That type of window is called a side load- you pull out the left and right clips, raise the window about half way, grasp the sash with one hand on top and one hand on bottom of the sash and shove the window sash left (usually). That will free the right side of the window up and you will be able to tip the right side of the sash into the room, and will then be able to pull the left side out of the jamb.
If this doesn't look or sound like your window, I'm not quite sure what type you have- only some digital pictures would help us figure it out.
