Okay, I've been working on my sony kp-53xbr45 projection for a bit now and I can't seem to find the problem. The television gets a solid red led flash and then a really short quick second and then nothing. I noticed that I have to turn the tv off with the remote before I can repeat the cycle.
I checked all the boards for bad solders, the flyback transformer and HV block have been changed (the first repair man damaged the wire when trying to uninstall).
I checked the transistors and nothing is shorted.
No fuses are blown on any of the boards.
Q806 and Q510 are both okay. I noticed that q806 shows short circuit from base to emitter while on the board, but when taken off and tested it is fine.
There was an electrolytic capacitor (10mf 160v) that had an esr reading of 6 ohms on the circuit, and beyond the scale when I took it off. I replaced it with a new one (less than 1 ohm esr).
There are no bad resistors that I could find.
When I plugged it in the variac, the units relays click on at around 68 volts. When at the full 120v, using the remote to power up the set, the power turns on, led turns off once, turns on again but shuts off really quickly. I could hear the static from the crt's as the tv turns off.
Anyone have any suggestions for me on this one? I'd really like to get it working for the bowl games!
