We have been switching to compact fluorescent bulbs in most of our fixtures, including our 1960s era recessed ceiling fixtures. We've had no problems in any except the one in the hallway, which is fine when it is on, but which flashes (though not as brightly as when it's on) very regularly when the switch is off. Has anyone had this problem before? Can you tell me what causes this, and what we can do about it? It's a little like facing a strobe light when you want to go get the middle-of-the-night glass of milk!

The switch is a dimmer or other electronic type switch. If it was a regular snap on/off switch it would not blink. Change the switch or disable/bypass the remote if there is one.
