Well, it sounds like one anyway
It's a "whirwhirwhirwhir..." noise just like the Martian Saucers in those 50's SciFi flicks
It just started, and it's during the agitate mode
It changes tone when the agitate action changes (lower tone when agitate is slower)
It's a Whirlpool Gold, Ultimate Care II, a few years old, if that makes a difference
Should I be worried?
Something I should look into?

start with your drain pump, it runs backwards in agitate and motor speed effects drain pump speed.
