Hello, My gas water heater is approx 5 years old. It is a oc smith model. It seems to be coming from bottom somewhere. Any ideas how I can fix it?

I can't imagine a 5 y/o water heaters tank going bad but it is possible depending on your water quality. You will have to search and pinpoint where the leak is located before we can make a suggestion. If it is indeed the tank it may be under warranty still.

I drained it and filled it back up. It seems not to be leaking now. Does this make since?

I don't see how draining a heater can fix a leak. You need to determine where the leak is from. Keep a close eye on that heater, is could start leaking again at any time.

Where does your pressure/temperature safety valve drain? Is it possible that the water you saw was blow-off from that rather than a tank leak?

sometimes it may appear to be leaking from the bottom when its not. If it leaks again you can run your hand on the side of the tank to see if its maybe dripping down the sides.

What about a leaking drain valve? I had one start leaking for no reason what so ever. If you drained the tank, it may have shut properly?
