My 4 year old son somehow broke an ink pen and got the ink on my light wood coffee table. What can I do to get the stain out. HELP!

Ink absorbed by finish may be impossible to remove. Test any DIY method first in inconspicuous place for ill effects before proceeding. If lacquer finish, try wiping with mineral spirits in direction of grain. Let set a minute or so to see if it appears to lighten the stain. Sometimes, if ink has not been absorbed too deeply, stain can be buffed out with toothpaste or baking soda/water paste, rubbing in direction of grain. While rubbing alcohol is often recommended for ballpoint ink, it will damage lacquer finish. Always test any DIY method first in inconspicuous place first. There is a product sold at Wal-Mart that is called Suds & reportedly removes oils, stains (even ink) from fabrics & wood. Again, test any cleaner first. If not successful, a professional furniture refinisher may be helpful.
