Hi

I am an engineering student asked to do an airconditioner audit of a given site as a project. I visited the site, which is an office/lab/storage bldg, and have gathered some information such as the number of a/c units, type and the name plate readings of the units. Now, I would like to know what exactly is to be performed in an airconditioner audit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I could give you more information but right now I just want a start.

Thanks

Lost here for sure. When you say audit Id say see how many tons of AC they have in it and what size units. You dont think they mean you should to run the AC load on it???????? ;)

I'm not sure what kind of audit they're looking for either but would assume it would be intended to be an assessment of the unit age, maintenance performed on the units, refrigerant used in (?) time period, associated energy costs, efficiency ratings and such. Most times when I'm asked to perform an "audit" it's to justify purchasing new/additional equipment, widgets, whatever.

Exactly. Usually when an engineering audit is done it's a potential buyer of the property having it done. They'll want to know the age of the units along with any maintenance records. If they are past or close to there usefull life, they will need to know if they should be replaced soon.
